Facts

Country/Region: Bavaria/Munich
Departure: Munich
Difficulty: easy
Length: 24.5 km
Route-Details: Easy biking on asphalt roads.

Landscapeglockenblumen

A delightful collage of the regions of the Isar, forests, and meadows. Extended forest areas spread over into the Hachinger Bachtal and the Isar regions, which were restored in order to avoid inundations and increase its recreational value.

Culture

The way runs parallel to the M-water route; therefore one finds information boards of Public Utilities Munich, which answer questions about the water supply of the state capital. Another cultural tip for the children along the route is the Zoo Hellabrunn. The “Menterschwaige” and the Deutsches Museum are also nearby, an experience for children and grown ups alike.

Recreation and Health

Green and blue colors dominate the landscape. Green forests lie south of Munich: the Perlacher forest, Gruenwalder forest and the Deisenhofener forest are not only large recreation areas, but also nature reserves. The refreshing blue waters of the Isar invite swimmers and sunbathers to the many small bath areas (usually gravel surface) for relaxation and recovery.

Dining

A drink which can only be ordered in a pub: Isarwasser – a mixed beverage with beer, which fits perfectly with another regional specialty, Tafelspitz.

Sightsbavariafilmstadt

An excursion to Gruenwald is highly advised: Here one finds not only the Sauschütt, an enclosure for boars and their young, but the Keltenhaus, a delightful recreational park with climbing wall, a skater arena, adventure playground and much more. Outside of Oberhaching, close to the Kugler Alm, stands the Viecherlturm, a somewhat strange attraction. But we won’t reveal any more. In Munich at the Geiselgasteig, you can take an interesting and exciting tour through film and television studios to learn of the back stage activities. One can board a famous submarine, ride a magical dragon and view a stunt show. Plenty of action is promised for the whole family at the Bavarian Film Studios.
